Cobbled lanes, plane-shaded squares, and stone houses that have refused to change — Agiassos has held onto its character more than anywhere else on the island. The kafeneia here still serve coffee brewed the old way, in hovoli — a tradition kept alive. Above the village stands the church of Panagia Agia Sion, home to a sacred icon attributed to Saint Luke and one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the eastern Aegean.
The oldest ouzo distillery in Greece, founded in 1860 in Plomari and still run by the same family. Copper stills, century-old recipes, and the seeds, herbs, and anise that go into one of the country's most recognised spirits. The museum tells the full story of ouzo on Lesvos — and the visit ends with a tasting of what's distilled here.
